Hi Lauren, I am sorry you were disappointed with your first peel treatment. At Bella's we follow a strict protocol with all our peel treatments. In your case we used a Jessners Peel which is a cocktail of lactic, salicylic and citric acid which is perfect for treating dull, wrinkled, sensitive and dark skin types as well as aging, superficial scarring and light pigmentation. This peel is ideal before a special event and especially good for clients like yourself who have never experienced a dermal peel before. Our professional peel's are not a relaxing treatment as they are very active. The peel is applied and then monitored closely to ensure it doesn't overreact on the skin. As you were experiencing your very first peel here at Bella's it was crucial that your skin be monitored very closely. In your case as your skin came up with a lot of erythema quite quickly, the peel was removed after 2 minutes and a hydrating mineral and hyaluronic acid mask applied to soothe and replenish the skin. Our protocol with our chemical peels excludes any type of massage as it is not appropriate in this treatment, so I am sorry if you were expecting something more indulgent. All of our facial and body treatments do include massage however if you prefer a more relaxing treatment.
