This was my third visit to Heading Out Balwyn and my first bad experience. To start with, my regular stylist was on leave and I was not notified prior to my visit or given the option to postpone my appointment. This was my first colour with Heading Out (previously only cuts which have been faultless) and first experience with L'Oreal Professional products as my previous salon used Matrix. I don't believe that the alternative stylist that had been assigned to me familiarised herself with my client history prior to serving me, and didn't seem to understand what I wanted - I said I wanted a root touch up, she handed me a book of colour swatches and told me to pick the one I thought matched, even though I'm not a professional and have no prior experience with L'Oreal products. I picked one that seemed similar to my hair and she agreed, with no discussion or advice as to how it might turn out, which was much darker than I expected, and with my pale skin tone, my hair colour makes me appear pale, sickly, and washed out. Thankfully it is only a semi-permanent so I am hoping it will fade soon. The cut was different to my previous two cuts - I requested a trim to my blunt shoulder length cut which was done satisfactorily, however previous haircuts at Heading Out have had a more natural blunt finish - this one looks very obviously cut. Finally, the styling afterwards was a disaster. I don't believe a heat protection treatment was used as my hair became awful and static afterwards, to the point that I had to wash it twice (once that afternoon and again the next morning) to get rid of the static charge. Overall this was an awful experience and left me feeling very ripped off. If my regular stylist isn't available next time to fix my hair, I won't be returning.

Ryan was asked to only wash hair once , which he has done before however this time he took it upon himself to ignore me and washed it twice .This means hair was overwashed and the result I can get next day with styling is not as good and I am not as happy with overall result.

Hass put an exception amount of effort into achieving my desired results and achieved the exact result I was looking for. Would highly reccomend him and his extremely high quality services, his attention to detail and care was outstanding. I am extremely grateful.

I am very unhappy that your customers are being forced to pay $2 per visit towards the charity of your choice. it should be optional.

After watching my girlfriends hair change with amazing cuts and colours over the course of about 6 months she referred me to Heading Out in Balwyn in particular to hairdresser named Hass. Hass was really lovely and attentively listened to me talk about the concerns I had with my hair. After years of hairdressers over processing, not listening and having lots of breakage he is the ONLY hairdresser who has explained to me what the problems were. Hass talked about a plan for my hair as obviously it was not going to be a quick fix. We discussed what was going to be done on the day and he provided me a written quote so we could discuss my options before I went ahead with my treatment. I've never had a quote from a hairdresser before and this was so appreciated as I knew exactly what the end result was going to be before we started rather than sitting there panicking about how much I would be up for at the end. My journey to heal my hair has now started and I am really happy to put my trust in Hass. Although I am a little darker in colour at the moment I understand and trust what Hass needs to do to make my hair healthy again. Finally a hairdresser who knows what he's talking about - thank you Hass! My only dissapontment is that I didn't book in earlier!!! Thank you Heading Out - what a great hairdresser you have working for you.
