The above rating is based on my last experience not on previous. The front office and colourists has consistently been great - the styling inconsistent. I know to cut down costs in the past junior / trainee hairdressers were used for a blow-dry with no styling equipment to be used e.g. curling iron. I believe this was a very poor strategy. For my last experience this had changed but I am not sure if I was just lucky or it is an actual change in strategy. The trainees didn't ask how the customer wanted the hair to be styled - and they frankly did a bad job. They also wouldn't listen if you asked them to do something. They would want to leave customers with wet hair and poorly styled - care factor zero. Most customers would be tempted not to come back because the last impression - is exactly that the last impression. In a hair salon you are very much judged on how the customer feels when they leave your building and observers also look at what a customer looks like when they leave your building (referrals). Simply take the time to make every person who leaves your premise after a service feel great. In order to do this it is not the colour or cut that makes a difference but the styling. It takes a few minutes for an experienced person to make a person feel and look great - it takes a lifetime to get a customer back after a poor experience. Where would you spend your efforts? You are now competitive on price but this should not compromise quality and customer experience. I hope the feedback is taken in the correct way. It is meant to help you grow your business and reputation.
